I hope those kids have a kaumatua to accompany them to the Principal's office on Monday. The Principal needs some education - they should be proud of their students' engagement with MP Seymour. Democracy is all about voicing your preferences -Seymour has made his policy decisions and now the students have made their opinion clear. These kids will be voters at the next election, and I hope Ferguson High School has a voter-education programme in place. Will someone please ask the Principal why a haka is inappropriate? Specifically, what is wrong and why?

I hope so too. There's a lot of potential for stigmatisation of these kids.

I appreciate your words, the Dunedin longitude all study, showed that all most young people do things that adults think are antisocial. They grow up to become constructive adults, as long as we give them the chance to do so These young people show every signs of becoming constructive caring adults

Agree with all. And when you look at it, adults doing stunningly antisocial things, including to children. We just have the ability to define our shittiest actions as acceptable.

A lovely read and summary of the events Anna. I felt so strongly I emailed the school to show my support for the students. This article would be a great read for the board.

It's a first. I feel so strongly about encouraging youth to be politically aware and involved. They have a right to voice their concerns.
