I am very sorry to read this and I had thought when you described the cleaning . . . that won't be enough. Not in Wellington. Burn it with fire! Hopefully the landlord in this instance can be stripped of their dignity through the pillory of public opinion and your son gets better soon.

Is it possible to put the landlord’s name (or their agent’s) name, the rental charge, some photos on Facebook or X? To warn other renters or possibly even shame the owner?

Doxing the landlord would be counterproductive IMHO.

JFC I’m so sorry. Also wtf do landlords need “dignity” for when the law has already been set up to serve them for decades?

I have seen this. The mould attacks the children’s bedding and their toys. The dehumidifier extracts 2 litres of water overnight. The ceiling is cleaned with bleach on one day and the mould is back the next. And then your child takes his family overseas where they don’t allow this and you save for a trip every 10 years to see them. My heart is breaking that we are welcoming this garbage back.

It should be un-fucking-believable. And yet all too real. As previous post said, burn it with fire.

So so sorry to read this, I felt I was hugging your boy in my own arms. Mine’s the same age. Fuck this govt and its protection for the greedy at the expense of the health of the most vulnerable. No but seriously fuck them.

“Like” doesn’t seem appropriate here. I am so sorry - and angry.

I remember flats that were so damp, the top of my duvet would be wet from ceiling drips.

Mould that was never fixed, just painted over every few months.

And it was normal? We felt lucky to be there?

Sending love to you and your son, hoping that the specialist is swift and helpful.
