I wonder how many will just accept the $20 or whatever: the sneering will say “I didn’t see you turn it down!” If we accept it will become complicit in their greed. But what if we had a campaign to donate the $20 to some charity such as a food bank? An automatic payment, the equivalent to the tax cut going to where it’s most needed.

As a public servant who lost my job today, I feel this 😢 and all education public servants want is for kids to be fed, do well at school, and have the best start in life too

Oh, e hoa. This is a terrible thing to be going through. I know a lot of MoE people, and they have a deep commitment and professionalism I admire. I'm sorry this is happening to you, and I hope you're OK.

Yeah, it’s like that. I might get $20 also, but I may also lose my public service job (now in restructuring consultation and some of us are definitely losing our jobs), so maybe I won’t!
